Josh Minden
Hello, I’m Joshua, and I’ve been teaching Pilates for the last 10 years, previously with the great team at Pilates Fitness Institute and currently with the dedicated folks at Pilates Plus in Highett, Victoria.
A little about my background, my career within the health and fitness industry spans 15 years, with my personal involvement in exercise and sports spanning back to early childhood. One of my earliest memories is swimming lessons with my dad as a toddler. Swimming continued to be a big part of my life for my entire childhood, along with a little cross-country running and various other sports.
I then moved on to compete in triathlons for several years. I have also always had a keen interest in martial arts and have tried a number of forms including Karate, MMA, Tai Chi and most recently Wing Chun Kung Fu. I enjoy practicing Yoga and of course Pilates. I believe in trying a wide range of physical disciplines and seeing what suits me. Exercise and movement practice is not one size fits all, what is suitable depends on the person, what they want to attain and the situation.
As someone interested in human movement and performance, it made sense for me to study Pilates which has since turned into my career. I have a Diploma in Fitness, an Advanced Diploma in Pilates and a BSc (Hons). Over the years I have been a Group Exercise Instructor, Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer, Health Coach, Triathlon Coach and Pilates Instructor and Educator.
The Pilates method encompasses so much of what I have come to believe is important to long term health and wellbeing, in its emphasis on mindful and purposeful movement for the sake of enhancing quality of life. It gives me great satisfaction to know that I am doing something positive for myself and others.
